Design is an important part of every day lives. It maybe only designers that say this. Most would either not notice or not care that there every day lives are surround by design.

Can a designer be the only one to understand design where others just appreciate it? As a magazine designer early on in the career you stop reading magazines and start seeing them like a baby sees a object. You pick up a magazine and get into the designers head and visualise the designers thoughts, the reasons behind the style of font, the colours, the combination of images and words, the weights, the lines and the balance. Balance. This is a term that many people just don't realise. Its the feng shui of design and is extremely important.

A designer prefers to speak through visuals rather than the spoken word. Most will not understand this and a designer will often lose an argument.

Design being an important part in every day life. Take for instance a newspaper. If a newspaper was not lay ed out in many columns but just one. Newspapers would have died out years ago. The basic rule of page layout keeps someone reading. Where it is important for the writer to grab a reader in the first paragraph. It is important for the designer to grab the attention of the reader on the whole page and then get the reader to read it. There are many trick of the trade that creates the basics but a true understand of human nature is also a key factor.
